Position Description
Position title: Finance Officer
Position number: SAA09
Agreement: Portside Christian College Enterprise Agreement (2021)
Award: Educational Services (Schools) General Staff Award 2020
Level: General Level 4
FTE: 0.4-0.6 FTE
Reports to: College Principal and delegate: Business Manager
Direct reports: Nil

General responsibilities

  • Have an understanding of and commitment to the College Vision, Purpose, Values and Statement of Faith.
  • Act in accordance with the College Handbook (Staff), Staff Code of Conduct and Staff Device Agreement, as well as all other College policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, students and parents.
  • Actively contribute to the Christian life of the College community.
  • Attend meetings, functions and extra-curricular activities as required.
  • Participate in the College’s ongoing Professional Learning opportunities.

Role and responsibilities

  • Maintenance and management of collection activities of the College’s tuition fees.
  • Working with the Business Manager in recovering outstanding amounts owed to the College.
  • Management of discount requests from families for College fees.
  • Processing of Accounts Receivable in conjunction with the Finance Manager.
  • Handling financial queries related to ELC and OSHC fees.
  • Providing assistance with payroll and human resources administration.
  • General Reception duties to support the College’s administration team.
  • Additional duties as required.

Desired qualifications of successful candidate

  • A certificate or diploma qualification in a Business or Finance related field, with relevant work experience highly desirable.
  • South Australian Government Working with Children Check.
  • Current First Aid qualification – BELS First Aid training (HLTAID010) at a minimum.
  • Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect – Education and Care (RRHAN-EC) Training.

Desired skills and abilities of successful candidate

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent phone manner and ability to document and record conversations.
  • Exhibit the highest degree of confidentiality in dealing with families and staff.
  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, students and parents.
  • Effective time management and prioritisation skills and ability to coordinate responsibilities within the administration team.
  • Ability to be innovative, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Proficiency in digital technology, including Microsoft Excel and accounting software, use of Customer Relationship Management software.
  • Ability to manage the demands of the position including administration and professional responsibilities.
