Full-Time Medical Secretary for Busy Obstetrics and Gynaecology Practice
Join our thriving Obstetrics and Gynaecology practice in East Melbourne as a full-time medical secretary. As a patient-focused practice, we are looking for someone with exceptional organisational skills, a positive and friendly demeanour, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
About the role:
- Full time, 5 days a week (Monday – Friday)
- Part of a team of four other secretaries and a practice manager
- Provide primary care for one specialist doctor but also provide cover
Responsibilities:
- Schedule and manage appointments with the latest medical software (Genie, Eclipse)
- Answer and triage phone calls, take messages and respond to inquiries
- Greet and check in patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Manage medical records and ensure they are up to date and accurate
- Process and handle Medicare and private health insurance claims
- Support the day-to-day needs of the doctor as required
- Handle billing and banking procedures
- Perform general administrative duties as required
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a medical secretary or in a similar administrative role – If you don’t have prior experience, we are willing to provide training if you meet other requirements.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking skills to manage a busy schedule and ensure smooth running of daily operations.
- Strong computer literacy with the ability to learn and use medical software (Genie, Eclipse) and other office productivity tools.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with patients, colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and accuracy to maintain precise and up-to-date medical records and manage billing procedures.
- A patient-focused approach with the ability to demonstrate compassion and empathy towards patients and their families.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures is an advantage, but not essential.
